Da Nang International Airport embodies the warm hospitality and dynamic culture of Danang City. Positioned as a gateway to Vietnam’s vibrant central coast, the brand emphasises friendliness, efficiency, and a genuine reflection of local heritage, ensuring every visitor’s journey is welcoming, convenient, and uniquely memorable.
AHT (the airport’s operating company) approached QUO Vietnam to develop the refreshed digital experience, following the launch of the new brand image for Da Nang International Airport.
Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s fastest–growing destinations, captivating both domestic and international travelers.
Over the past decade, Da Nang has transformed into a thriving tourism and investment hub. With its central location, beachside appeal, and rising reputation as a digital nomad haven, the city has experienced a dramatic uptick in air travel, hotel developments, and international awareness. By 2024, Da Nang was welcoming over 10.9 million visitors annually – more than triple its 2012 figures.
Despite Da Nang’s growing global relevance, its digital airport presence didn’t reflect the modern standards, vibrancy, or warmth of the destination it represented.
The existing online infrastructure was fragmented – divided between separate domestic and international terminal websites – and lacked the intuitive functionality and cohesive user experience expected by today’s travelers.
Design a single, seamless digital gateway for domestic and international travellers that showcases Da Nang as a vibrant, welcoming, and dynamic city.
QUO reimagined Da Nang International Airport’s website as a unified digital gateway – not only connecting domestic and international travellers, but introducing them to the spirit of the city from the very first click. Built on deep UX research and streamlined architecture, the interface reflects Da Nang’s unique blend of cultural warmth and contemporary energy.
Every detail – from the colour palette to the content tone – was designed to echo the city’s vibrancy. Beyond basic functionality, the platform subtly celebrates what makes Da Nang special, with lifestyle–led imagery and space to highlight local attractions and experiences. With traffic information, real–time flight updates, weather conditions or interactive terminal maps, each feature offers intuitive utility wrapped in a sense of place.
QUO conducted comprehensive UX research, competitive usability analysis, and extensive design concept development to define a modern and user-focused digital experience. The project encompassed the following UX and design components:
Content and Information Architecture:
Developed a consolidated sitemap integrating two separate terminal websites, establishing clear and logical information pathways.
UX Research and Digital Journey Mapping:
Evaluated competitor websites and user behavior to identify best practices, inform digital journey maps, and enhance usability.
Showcase Experiences and Attractions:
Includes designated areas highlighting Da Nang’s attractions – from its golden beaches and vibrant food culture to nearby landmarks such as the Marble Mountains and Hoi An.
Visual and UI Design:
Created design concepts reflecting Da Nang City’s hospitality culture through carefully selected color palettes, graphic elements, and lifestyle imagery. Developed mood boards to illustrate design direction and secured client approval on a visual identity aligned with brand guidelines.
Functional Specifications:
Defined detailed UX and design concepts for enhanced functionalities, including live car-parking booking, traffic status displays, real-time security and immigration updates, interactive airport maps, weather information, recruitment portals, detailed flight status interfaces, notifications, alerts, and chatbot support. All functionalities were designed conceptually and comprehensively documented for future technical implementation by other parties.
Copywriting and Photography Guidelines:
Established new, updated content guidelines in both English and Vietnamese, alongside recommendations for photographic style and brand alignment.
Responsive Design:
Delivered responsive layouts and comprehensive visual designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences, ensuring consistency and usability across devices.
Quality Assurance & Reviews:
Conducted extensive UX/UI reviews following the website’s initial build by third-party developers, reporting identified UI and functional inconsistencies, content issues, and other usability concerns, ensuring alignment with approved designs and guidelines.
The redesigned website unified Da Nang Airport’s previously fragmented digital presence into a single, culturally vibrant, and user-centric platform. The proposed UX and UI improvements were meticulously offered clear guidance for the technical teams responsible for implementation. The comprehensive design guidelines and detailed functionality specifications positioned Da Nang International Airport’s digital presence to better reflect the city’s dynamic culture, improve user experience, and align with international airport best practices.
The detailed conceptual design and specifications developed by QUO provide a robust foundation for future digital developments, ensuring the Da Nang International Airport website can adapt and expand effectively.
