A long-time client of QUO, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), approached the Bangkok-based branding agency to create the website for Singapore’s second InterContinental property. IHG also had a second job for QUO, a bigger and more intricate task than the hotel website – creating a website that would stand out and create some attention for IC Robertson Quay’s ground-floor F&B outlet.
The hotel’s largest restaurant and bar space will attract many non-hotel guests with its highly visible location on The Quayside. To help communicate the brand messaging for the innovative restaurant concept required an equally innovative online space that could stand alone from the IC Robertson Quay website. After months of hard work by the QUO Digital Design team, the cutting-edge, visually rich Publico website launched alongside the IC Robertson Quay website on October 12.
IC Robertson Quay Digital Manager, Mr. Duy Nguyen says that the Publico website "immediately catches the eye and creates a lasting impression. What I like the most is that there are plenty of spaces to show off all the awesome images of Publico."
IC Robertson Quay’s new dining destination – or destinations, to be more precise – is a 389-seat gourmet playground which offers classic Italian cuisine and the vibrancy of an Italian trattoria. A multi-concept dining experience, Publico comprises a trio of Italian outlets – deli, ristorante and bar – under the one large roof, with year-round festivities planned to keep the vibe alive.
Publico Deli is a dine-in or grab-n-go morning and daytime gourmet delicatessen, which at night transforms into Marcello, Singapore’s first modern Italian cocktail bar alongside a dessert bar. Publico Ristorante offers authentic Italian cuisine both day and night and features an adjoining bar and terrazzo by the river. The interior was designed by New York’s AvroKO, one of the world’s most innovative food and beverage design firms.
Publico’s cutting-edge dining concept is matched by the start-of-the-art website that QUO created for the restaurant. The kinetic and visually rich Publico website features innovative technical features, including animated logos and content that changes depending on the time of day they are viewed. If users come to the website during the day they will get content focused on Publico Deli, whereas night-time visitors will see more on Marcello.
QUO’s Digital Design team collaborated with colleagues in the Video department to create animated logos that don’t slow the loading time of the website. QUO Head of Digital Benjawan ‘Bee’ Intrasuwan says that developing and implementing this web animation technique has “taken animation on QUO-designed websites to the next level.”
Duy Nguyen says that "the animated elements are integrated beautifully into the UI and really add a unique Publico charm to the site. They reflect the playfulness and quirky nature of Publico."
“The client really wanted movement and something that really connects people to the website,” says K.Bee. “We wanted to add movement without pushing users away from the content.”
“Adding some candy to a page is always a good thing,” she adds with a smile.
